I was getting this same effect, all due to user error. It was because I wasn't properly enabling the Photoshop color management in the first  printing dialogue box. I remembered correctly that I had to turn off color management, but this is in the SECOND print dialogue box, not the first. Once properly set, the problem disappeared and the regular PS Relative Colorimetric softproof matched the print.  I have CS2 and Epson 810 printer.
