I'm pretty sure the segmented line comes from some kind of braiding. I only see it on the closer line. The more distant ones look contiguous.
That is very perceptive, I was wondering about that, but what you say makes complete sense.
happens with new cabling which is shiny bright
less of it around here now due to fire risk, cables are bundled insulated
my 5D has done the same thing, the twist in the cables gives intermittent highlights, various angles give different patterns. I would think landscape shooters would be familiar with this

does it look the same at 100% because the OP's shot looks like it's been tortured rather than processed
what I have done is agree with a fraternity that is familiar with this concept. That fraternity are landscape shooters. Does this shot look the same? It is a matter of light and cabling angles, but there is within a similar span
anyone want to ask me whats wrong with my 5D ?

what's wrong with your 5D? I've been going through shots with my Nikons and erm....i don't seem to get this unless there is something really strongly lined behind the cable then it becomes more a case of moire
'unless '
code for aliasing problems on nikons ?
really, youre just wasting peoples time
just checking some E600 shots and erm........

give this Olympus shot a bash at 100%, in a few areas it gets a bit indistinct , but i don't at any time you're left in doubt that there is a cable, i have 100's of shots from Thailand where the cables are everywhere, i really could post endless amount of examples if you wish.
the one across the street is a fibre optic communications cable supported by a steel guy, they do this because if they dont support it with something the fibre will break. That it happens to show two shades of grey in flat light -isnt the same thing. The other pole to pole cabling is insulated electrical cable, black/grey.
Seen in my 5D shot and the example originally questioned is twisted electrical cable with no insular covering in stronger reflecting light.
I'm not saying it never ever ever happens, but using a shot that has been tortured to death to prove a point isn't the best way to about it.
so if you admit it happens then what is it you are complaining about exactly? If youve seen it before then really whats the issue?
I think people should feel free to say as they please to a point, but this constant marauding around looking for problems or ways to needle people is childish and just gets old.
I actually like the detail, colour and sharpness in this shot, pity the random noise you get from that sensor breaks through at virtually any ISO ruins things.

btw spot the flying trout

not complaining about anything, i don't share the OP's view his image is packed full of detail using a certain lens, we've got into this silly cable comparison due to some of us pointing out there are issues with the image, no one as far as i have noticed has criticised the lens or called it a bad lens.
And for your information reread the OP, he calls a bunch of people trolls and then throws down a challenge to beat his image, so before you start you pontificating maybe you should get the whole point of this thread, he's made a very strong statement and a challenge to other users, wouldn't it be fair then to study his image in a technical fashion and note it's deficiencies? I have once again provided in an image in another one of these kind of threads to counter claims.....once again the facts are ignored and people change the argument to suit.
If people don't want these threads maybe not starting them in the first place would be a good place to start.
