The size/mass factor afaic is just one part of the reasons to choose or not to choose.

I'm getting rewarding results from adapting and adopting this format, and don't find the bulk of the DSLR and it's output is significant enough to spend on and haul about. Been there, did that, I don't find it necessary.

Any more, that is. There wasn't a respectable option outside of DSLRs when I started. If I were shooting for hire, that might be something else. But even then, what body to choose would depend on the requirements of the client.

Not that any of this will help you find the answer you've been seeking for the past 2-3 years. BTW, did you know there's a Pana 35-100/2.8 lens? With your concern for grandkid sports. . .
