Re: What sharpness setting shooting jpg with X-Pro 1

I've been trying various settings for a couple of months now, using the various film simulations and trying different jpg settings. Mainly, the aim was to find a default starting point I can be happy with in like 80% of the situations. Regarding film simulation I've finally settled with Provia for the widest DR with an occasional switch to Astia for landscape for a little color and contrast bump. Velvia just squashed the shadows too much for me.
Once Provia was chosen it was time to tweak the jpg parameters. Sharpness at 0 produced a lot of edge and color artifacts I despised. Gradients in bokeh were not smooth at all and it was worrying but I got rid of this effect with with sharpness -2. I'm really happy with this setting now but it only works perfectly when reducing the noise reduction to -1, otherwise too much detail is lost at NR 0 and NR -2 looked too harsh.
And so, Provia is really good at DR but colors tend to be a bit neutral, so I'm pushing color to +1. This makes the whole setting perfect for me. Add Auto DR and Auto ISO and it's working for most of the situations.
