X-S1 RAW or JPEG?

The XS-1 does quite well at ISO800,

But especially noticeable in the close-up is the lack of fine resolution.

I have to wonder if the lack of fine detail is down to the processing, i.e., were the X-S1 RAW (.RAF) images processed in ACR/Lightroom or did the OP use Silkypix or in camera RAW conversion?

Perhaps just as is the case with the X10, RAW processing makes all the difference in the world as far as detail.  ACR does a terrible job with X10/XF-1, and likely X-S1 RAW files, while SilkyPix and in camera RAW conversion produce much sharper images.

I'm hoping that the RAW issues with Adobe Camera RAW are well behind us with the Fuji X20.  I don't care for SilkPix, and don't want to be stuck processing a pile of RAF files with it just to get the proper amount of detail that the sensor resolved.

Anyway, maybe the OP wants to talk about processing:  whether this shots are OOC JPEGs or RAW.

Thanks.  Nice comparison.  Good job, Markus
