Aargh!!! The dreaded wet tropics strikes: fungus on my 40-150 fav!

And I have no way to combat it really. We are in the midst of the wet season, rain every second day, high humidity all the time, everything feels moist. I don't have air conditioning, or access to unlimited supplies of silicagel, or what we used in the old days - partial vacuum jars.

It is blooming on the front of the second element by the looks of it.

The new replacement price in Australia is $300+, I haven’t seen a used one offered (which doesn’t surprise me -- I wouldn’t sell ​mine​!), and heaven knows what the repair price is. In any case, I have no access to those services for another two months.

Just looking for a little sympathy, really.





I suppose I’ll just have to get used to pleasing soft focus at all focal lengths. Sigh!
