Olympus was forced into using the same old sensors previously by their agreement with Panasonic.  Panasonic refused to give Olympus access to their latest and best sensors to maintain an advantage for themselves.

Olympus is not being treated the same by Sony in regards to sensor availability.  To the best of my knowledge the Olympus DSLR camera being tested in the field has a newer sensor from Sony than the one in the OMD.  As we have seen previously however, just because a camera is being field tested does not mean it will get released.
