Hi,
I did a quick test and I also see some blue noise dark areas. Maybe this is the reason why by default the contrast is kept quite high so shadows stay very dark.
Still it didn't look as bad as in your example. If the RAW looks fine, though, I can't really imagine that your camera is faulty since the firmware shouldn't differ. It's more likely that you hit some settings that make this problem more visible.
The more I look at it the more I think that the RX100 images are a huge compromise to produce very good images under most situations but very bad images under some others. See also my thread about another problem here:
