We tend to forget that, in the pre-pixel-peeping days, the 28-135 IS was considered a very good lens. (Not something that can be said about the 75-300)
That said, I don't think we're going to see any new "kit" grade zooms targeted at full-frame cameras. I would expect either a refresh of the 28-135 IS, or perhaps a resurrection of the 24-85 3.5-4.5 (which was also a very high quality optic), with IS added, as an entry walkabout zoom as full frame becomes more consumer-friendly.
