If you missed my hands-on report of the X-S1 and FZ200. Here you go...
The tiny advantage of FZ200 is AF and STS time are all gone when you do the real zooming/framing action. No contest, X-S1 and HS30 and most definitely HS50 hands-down are the winners.-=[ Joms ]=-
Joms, I somehow seem to have missed your hands-on report for the HS50, so please point me to it that I may see how you can include the HS50 as being one of your hands-down winners.

You did not read the whole text so I put it there for you. I did not say I had a hand-on experience with Hs50. Just assume it will do equal in handling and framing with the Hs30 and X-S1 plus the ultra fast AF and STS time.

Unless the FZ200 is in the "right" hands...
Which hands? Old shaky ones? and a tripod and expensive TC and Macro adapters and another FZ for macro and a hit-and-miss RDS? $1500 setup for an average results? H3ll no!.
You cannot fool a person who knows the huge difference between a smooth silky manual zoom and a fake one with twitching tiny buttons lol.

I will not only buy one but two no questions asked...

Just ask my friend Smith from the Florida Swamps... ;)...you still diggin' that hole?...ain't deep enough yet I guess?
FZ200 is fast and no matter how you want to twist it...but you still have to deal with the facts that even old shakey hands aren't all that bad sometimes...just message Smith on FlickR, he'll back up everything I am telling you...and lets look at a few of his humble examples...he don't even use proper software and does the best he can at PP...a really neat ole guy...

These images are a definite step above the HS20/30's. Very impressive. Hard to beat a fast lens with excellent glass and the FZ200 shows it here on these Flickr links and on LTZ's images of sports and certainly the macro images. Glad I saw these as I will take high IQ over marginally faster to focus any day. Thanks for posting these.
Are you sure they are of high quality? I am looking at 5 or 10 Iso100 shots at large size and I can see smeared if not unrecoverable blown highlights.
-=[ Joms ]=-
Don't know what you view with, but I'm seeing very good IQ on my big Sony monitor. Keep in mind these are SOOC/no pp..really good. Unless the HS50 surprises me with rock solid IQ, the FZ200 is my top contender. Since I like to print large, the 8MP suggested best quality size limits anyone going larger than 8x10. Hoping the new HS 50 with the 1/2" CMOS sensor and combined with very good glass can live up to the hype.
Either you are blind, with very low standard or with defective monitor
"Quantity does not necessarily mean quality"
-=[ Joms ]=-
Ahh, you cherry pic two of the lesser jpegs that have NO post processing and fixable and infer that these are standard quality for the FZ200? Not. And anyone can crop down to exaggerate noise. Your blind love of the HS30 is evident and noted on your posts. I can easily copy/paste and crop your images to show lots of unacceptable noise.
So post some of your UNPROCESSED/SOOC images, them I will crop and show you loads of noise. Time to move away from that old VGA screen you are looking at...lol.
Nope those were 2 of 10+ or more from that photostream. Maybe it is you who have seen only 2 good pictures?
Here is one ISO400 that is far better than those base ISO shots
-=[ Joms ]=-
Lol...Joms shoots a sleeping heron sitting still in "zero wind" and says look at my feather details...lol...then ole Smith in Florida g in nothing but wind like us here in Texas...
Lame excuse to justify the smearing and blown highlights on a base-ISO shot lol.
You're not only blind Joms you are ignorant to many facts that are actually present when Smith is shooting in the Everglades...Numero Uno: The wind never stops blowing...
Look at the blazing sun and high shutter speed he used. Compare it to my sub 1/100s shot under shade. Huge difference eh. who is ignorant?
No. 2 Smiths Heron looks way better than that ISO 400 you posted...lol...anybody with artistic eyes could see that...
You could say that but had I taken that shot with ISO-100 and the GBH under sunlight. You will no longer have any excuse lol.
I do like that purple tint all over your heron though that is definitely one must have feature for a Superzoom camera...
WHY didn't you post this one instead?...lol....
Smeared and smooth. The background is nice. We are talking about details here.
