I am having issues with my new NX1000. Need help...

I just bought a NX1000 for a killer deal; $197 for the 20-50/16 two lens kit. I couldn't pass it up. I normally shoot with a Sony NEX but got this as it wasn't much more than the 16mm for the NEX and thought I'd use it as a second camera with the 16mm most of the time.
Anyway, I've been taking some initial shots indoors, low light, and have had a couple issues that I wasn't expecting after reading the reviews. Firstly, I have a real hard time, almost impossible, to get it to focus at 50mm. The focus assist lamp is lighting, but I cannot lock focus. I have read that the autofocus was very good with this camera in low light so I was kinda surprised. Secondly, the camera is over exposing quite badly (compared to the exposure with the same settings on my NEX, about two stops). I can't figure out if there is a setting somewhere that is causing it. If I set the same exposure manually that my NEX is using, I get a decent picture, but in AP or Auto, it over-exposes.
Any thoughts?
