what are these things?

The 1:1 crop is from the corner of a shot taken at f22 with an old Nikon 105mm f2.5 PC AI. There's more over the frame, too.

I saw something similar, but definitely not the same quantity of black spots, on an f11 shot from an old Nikkor 20mm f4.

I do not see the dots when I shoot the 20mm lens at f4.

The camera is a D700, and has about 5,000 shots on its shutter. I've had it for 3 years now, and though I don't baby it, I don't abuse it.

The lenses were both from KEH and were bought as EX+, and look ok.

Any ideas?
