Ive been very happy with my 55micro Nikkor,the 1.5x factor makes it a reasonable portrait lens but as mentioned these lenses are extremely sharp so they may lead to more work in Photoshop.Im sure the 105Micro would be better for portraits with softer backgrounds but are a few hundred dollars more than the 55 & a bit rarer to find.
