One thing that I really recommend is the automatic lens cap! I bought one on E bay for around $8 and it really changed my life! I hated that hanging cap! It doesn't protect for dust or water, etc.. but it protect against accidents or if you bang against something. For dust etc, you should always clean your lens, anyway!
