This almost certainly means the GH3 is using the same Sony sensor as the E-M5, no?

Yes, it does. I have thought that such was the case all along and the DxO figures confirms it.

How does one then manage to "explain away" that the DxOMark Specifications sections report:

Sensor Photo Detectors: EM5 - 16.11 Mpixels, GH3 - 16.05 Mpixels

Pixel Pitch: EM5 - 3.74 Microns, GH3 - 3.73 Microns

Resolution: EM5 - 4640x3472, GH3 - 4624x3472

Frame Rate: EM5 - 9 FPS, GH3 - 6 FPS

I really see nothing here that needs "explaining away". The two manufacturers chose to employ a few pixels more or less and the difference in pitch may be no more than rounding error. Frame rate depends on quite a few things other than the sensor itself.

OK. Next round, then ("Screen" data: Dynamic Range, Saturation ISO):

EM5 - 10.47, 585 ... GH3 - 10.44, 782

EM5 - 11.48, 296 ... GH3 - 11.35, 394

EM5 - 12.02, 149 ... GH3 - 12.02, 214

EM5 - 12.35, 94 ..... GH3 - 12.30, 107

Well within the margin one would expect on account of measurement error, copy-to-copy variation, and filter stack differences (I only think the silicon is the same, not necessarily what's on top of it). Note that the different Olys (E-M5, E-PM2, E-PL5) differ a little from one another as well, although in that case we can fairly assume that everything, including the filter stack, is the same.

OK. I see that "Doctor Evil" has unveiled his precious "time capsule" in another "discussion", in order to pummel you with more incoherent ramblings - so I shall leave you now to enjoy his clarity !

Yes, it seems he woke up suddenly. But I think I'll let him ramble on his own this time.

...why so shy - suddenly?
