If you're going to use the center AF point only...

Or hate it, whichever, focus/recompose shifts the focus plane, I'd rather have good AF points all around, but I get that the price difference is significant.  Sadly the thinner your DOF the more likely you'll shift the focus plane off of your subject while recomposing, so it's more of a problem with fast primes on the larger sensor systems than say a zoom on a crop camera.
