da* 16-50 f2.8 artificially restricted to f2.8?

Hmm, that looks pretty closed down at 16mm f2.8.  Don't have that lens myself to check but also don't have any lenses that close down THAT far when zoomed.  Maybe some other 16-50mm f2.8 owners can check theirs to see if this is normal.
