The distinctive look of the D800e files has to do with the presence of high contrast artificial detail, I would definitely not call it "natural" or "unartifacted". However, it certaily looks very crisp and many people (myself included) sometimes like it a lot in landscape scenes.

Just shoot man-made subjects (test charts, fabric, small text) and the high-pixel-contrast artefacts becaome apparent.

A completely incorrect post which I don't have time to bother with.  Enjoy whatever camera you think is better.
