Olympus XZ-2 Focus Problem Revisited

I have just submitted to Olympus US the following Email documenting the AF problem of many XZ-2 cameras.

"I am writing to you to report an unquestionable flaw in the XZ-2, namely terrible AF when used indoors near the telephoto end, with the CENTER FOCUS POINT CHOSEN. This problem does not exist when using the matrix of focus points, only with the Center point focus.
I have tried two XZ-2s purchased at B&H, and they both have this problem. Many other users, almost all from the US, have posted on the DPReview forum for Olympus Compact Cameras reporting the same problem. Please read the following thread from this website documenting in a video, by the first poster, of the very frequent failure to lock AF when using the Center point, telephoto, indoor lighting combination: http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/post/50592564. I look forward to hearing your reply as to whether and how Olympus will rectify the problem. Please contact me by Email, not telephone. Thank you, Steven Zell"

I will report on their reply but in the meantime I strongly suggest other people with this focus problem also write to Olympus so that they understand that this is a widespread problem that needs to be fixed. You can submit your complaint at: http://www.olympusamerica.com/cpg_section/cpg_dig_cam_questions.asp?category=Digital%20Cameras&id=1627
