I recently went through this and decided on this one:

Basically the same display as the Monoprice one except with a built-in scaler that handles DVI, DP, and HDMI. The stand is a little wobbly, but it'll be fine if your desk is solid. My OCD compelled me to upgrade the stand to this one, which is built like a tank:

I was available calibrate it with my X-Rite and it was true to the prints I've received so far. I was tempted to go with one of the Dell 27" 2540x1440 screens - you can often find them for $650 on sale, but the Auria + stand + tax (if Microcenter is in your state) was still $200 lower.

I'm just an amateur, though. If you're making you're making your living with it, don't cut corners - get a Cinema Display or a Dell.

I was looking at this one until I read; 'To achieve the maximum resolution of 2560 x 1440, a DisplayPort or DVI port must be used on both ends.'

i am using a HP high end laptop, but it's a few years old, and it doesn't have a DVI port. I was going to use a DVI to HDMI cable, but it sounds like that's a no go for me. Bummer.
