Most imaging needs are served today by something which has in addition an imaging device.

Bigger sensor compacts bring back the fun what taking pictures is about, coupled with pretty decent IQ and photographic features. Updates happen more often as new tech takes off.

DSLRs are becoming more and more dinosaurs. For professionals, they make sense. But the crowd (who seemed to be quite a big target group when alternatives were missing) is looking less and less at something which is a solid work tool, but offers not much technological attractiveness from consumer point of view: how big number of amateurs shoot in reality a lot at iso25600 and are willing to carry a brick and pay an arm and a leg for it? Painting the cameras differently is of no help here.
