As a huge Panasonic fan, I am quite disheartened by this interview:

No shoebox of photos left by me. Nothing that will outlive me. That's a sad thing.

I have a spare shoebox you can have if you like . . . .

Seriously though, a lifetime round-up of milestone photo prints, loose in a shoebox (or whatever), might be a nicer thing for a great-grandchild to find than a cupboard full of bulky albums or a DVD. Loose prints have a "lucky dip" element, and can be spread out on a table, passed around, mounted temporarily on a board with masking tape formed into a ring shape, etc,.

7" x 5" -ish might be good (my shoeboxes are 8.25" wide x 5" deep, not a very good aspect ratio for pics).

Like going back to writing with a fountain pen, which I tried again recently.

What are Panasonic going to do about all this? Market a 4:3 aspect ratio "shoebox", say 7.25" x 5.5", to take 7" x 5.25" prints? Without a cigarette lighter wheel, preferably.

Mike

I am one of the few that still print at least 100 photos/year, most of which are of my kids.  I still prefer photo albums that you can easily pull out and by printing I am forced to review, crop, adjust, etc for final output.  I also look at it as another backup of my important photos.

2 years ago out local camera store started offering 6x8 prints for basically the same price as 4x6 prints.  I immediately switched over with new albums as well.  6x8 prints work great with the 4:3 aspect ratio.
