Exactly my questions when I shifted from G1 to E-PL3!

Ah ha!, I chortled, now I will have IS with wide angle lenses.

NOT.

The IS on the E-PL3 is rubbish except at very low shutter speeds -- e.g. 1/15 the lower -- and I generally forget to turn it on then and just prop myself against a tree or take other steadying measures (sometimes including another drink -- yes, thanks, I'll have a G&T)..

So except for the EM5 which has IBIS that reportedly works for everything, you may as well have the Panny OIS which works wonderfully from 14 up (the kit zoom that is) and just steady yourself for the rst of the time or with other lenses or whatever.

I;m looking very favorably at the G5 for my next camera. IBIS is no longer important to me.

Cheers, geoff
