I have owned the HS 30 for about 3 months with moderate use. I would cautiously recommend the HS30, but you will need to consider the following:

The focus is very slow even in continuous.

The HS 50 is out and not that I have any experience with it, it seems to have addressed most of the concerns that us Fuji users had.

The HS 50 is suppose to have better IQ. Again, the results has not been decided yet.

Price: the HS 30 is a lot cheaper if money is a concern

For what is worth and good luck.

Very slow? Are you sure? It is far better than Sx40 in AF and just a tad slower than fz200 at the long end. The only time I will get a missed shot is when the bird flew faster than me twisting the barrel and pointing the camera. You will get double failure rate if you will use motorized superzoom.
