Hi Ricleo,

I took lot of pictures in day time today with Tamron......

The Tamron is sharp edge to edge under most circumstances as I saw in the pictures... atleast sharp enough for my hobby type pictures. But there was something missing in broad sunlight pictures also.... I will post a few picturess and you'll get the idea of what I am blabbering about......

There is something missing in that sharp, its like I am sure I focused on the nose of the person, the picture is over all sharp because I am at f5.6, but the focus seems to be a few inches in front of the nose in mid air...

All the pictures had this something missing in this manner..... to the untrained eye of my Missus and visiting relative, they noticed the same and said that there is something not right about the sharpness!

Another funny thing I noticed was that with VC on my pictures were less sharp than with VC off on quite a few occasions ! Pictures taken between f2.8 and f8 ! It was so disconcerting to see :

1. Sharp but not really sharp

2. VC off giving better pictures than VC on at times

It all made me nervous, to constantly everyday keep on figuring out how the picture is going to turn out when I look at the computer screen ! So,

I went and exchanged the Tamron with the Canon 24-70 2.8 II, I toyed with the idea of the f4 IS version but then dropped the idea !

Hi Ricleo,

I was thinking the same, that it might be a lighting issue.... but what got me curious is that the two lens (Canon @200mm and Tamron @70 mm are in the same light, and the Canon picture somehow feels more attractive) I plan to take a few pics during the day today Just as luck would have it its an overcast day !

But its getting brighter !

Will post a few from the Tamron, I don't have Canon to compare it to though !

I would say the unremarkable images are due to indoor tungsten lighting and white balance issues of the camera instead of the lens. try out your lens in sunlight and the imagees should fare much better.

If money was not an issue for a lifetime - what would you be doing instead of what you do now ?
