For many of us, it does not matter at all. I did not even notice I had a problem before the forum was alight with complaints. Once I had seen the issue mentioned for the 20th time or so, I checked my own camera and could clearly see that my camera had the problem. As far as I remember, the right side was not perfect either, but my test was completely unscientific and it was several months ago.
The problem was clearly visible but not much more. For my purposes it was no real issue. I considered not even sending my camera in to Nikon for correction, but after half a year or so, I did anyhow, and it came back with the problem gone.
