Downtown shots with my D5100 and 18-55 VR

Thanks for all the comments! I would buy a camera kit that came with an 18-55 (II or VR), the next time I'd buy a kit I'd compare which 18-55 was "best" and keep it and sell the other. None of them were "bad" just some had less soft spots. They all were fun to shoot with.

Some automatically figure a "kit lens" is junk but I've never thought that. Sure, a 17-55 will be sharper, probably in all areas and edge to edge. I don't know, I've never shot with one. And much heavier and 7 times the price.

Whenever I'm composing some shot downtown the passersby will maybe glance up or over at where I'm pointing my camera. If we lock eyes their expression is usually "why are you taking a picture of that?"

edit:  the D5100 and the 18-55 VR combo weighs 848 grams, nearly weightless in my hands.
