Is the Fujifilm FinePix HS30EXR a good investment?

Hey.. I am a beginner and wanting to upgrade my old camera to a slr-like(bridge) camera.

I really liked the HS30EXR.. but some of my friends have been saying that fujifilms arent a good investment. so i would really like to find out what any existing users have to say about it and is it a good buy? And what are the other options in the same price range?
