Nikon does not indicate what version of VR the lens has in its name. VRII in the name of the lens only indicates that it is version 2 of that particular lens.

The 70-300 VR is NOT named VRII as it it's the first AFS VR version of the 70-300mm but it does have VR2

eg. 70-200 VR is version 1 ( coincidentally has VR1)

70-200 VRII is version 2 ( coincidentally has VR2)

18-200 VR and 18-200 VRII both have VR2

The new 70-200mm f4 is simply a called VR as its the first version of this model. It actually has VR3.

Darin..

Clearly said VRII by Nikon
