of the rented 35 I.S. and Sigma 35...
how were the edges and vignetting?...did anything stand out there?
was focus speed and accuracy showing anything that showed a difference?
thanks for the comments

by the way
the 28 looked like a good, small, base lens to me also ...
but f2 is about as slow as I wanted to go..

both lenses vignette but nothing too bad. the 28 f2.8 IS seems to vignette more wide open. wideopen the 28 2.8 is certainly sharper than the 35 f2 IS @ f2. in fact if there was one minor disappointment for me with the 35 f2 it was sharpness wide open. i had hoped that it would be as sharp as the 35L wide open. it isn't.
i hear what you are saying about f2 and f2.8. i mostly feel the same way. but after using the 28 2.8 IS a little tonight i can tell you i would be more inclined to use it wide open then the 35 f2. in fact i believe the 28 is at least as sharp @ f2.8 as the 35f2 @ f2.8.
