Considering upgrading lenses, which way to go
3 months ago

Hi

I currently shoot APS-C, A300, A35, A77. I have the following lenses:

Sony 18-250, Tamron 17-50, Minolta 24 2.8, Minolta 50 1.7, Minolta beercan and big beercan, Minolta 50 2.8 macro, Minolta 35 -70 f4 amongst others.

I would like to have better lenses to support video via ssm and possibly prepare for full frame. I am also interested in Ultra wide.

Is it worth buying the CZ 16 - 35 considering future proofing for FF, OR

should I settle upgrading to 16 - 50 2.6 Sony for the SSM and to update my tamron, as well as considering purchasing the tokina 11 - 16 or sigma 8 - 16 to cover the wide end? This approach would suggest not going to FF anytime soon.

I would also love a 70 - 200 2.8 to round off my intended move to higher quality glass.

I tend to shoot wide, landscapes and portraits, a bit of low light work as well.

I guess this decision all really depends on the benefits (and cost) of going FF. I could purchase a 70 - 200 2.8 as this seems to be equally useful on the apsc and ff formats. I have about 2 k to spend this year with a possible option to spend about the same next year. I am happy using my a77 for the next 2 -3 years before a possible upgrade to FF.
