All money is, is debt. A promise to pay (says so on your dollar bills even).

TBills are just debt - a way to get money into the economy.
View the economy like a game of monopoly - the bank is the federal govt. ALL money comes from the bank (fed). All the players do is trade money around amongst themselves. If the bank quit injecting money into the game (economy) everything players went past GO the economy would stagnate. If you raise taxes the govt takes money OUT of the economy - if everyone paid $200 at GO how long before the game stopped for lack of money?
Usually in a down economy with higher unemployment pay falls - big supply of labor and low demand. I've not seen this happen around here as it did in the 70s and early 80s where you stood in line for a minimum wage job that paid min wage. Now here you can get paid $1-3 over min wage and jobs go unfilled for lack of workers. Some jobs/professions are offering bonuses and very high (IMO) wages - if you can fix a furnace there are jobs waiting for you at $50-75k a year (where the avg house is $140k)
We buy from China and pay them in dollars. Only dollars. That's all we have to use is dollars. What can china do with dollars? They can buy things from anyone that accepts dollars of course, or they can 'deposit' those dollars in the federal bank (buy bonds and tbills) so that they can earn interest on their dollars. So the 'debt' is really a deposit of chinese dollars in the fed.
As long as we import more than we export this will continue to be the case.
Real wealth is made from making things - not shuffling papers or cooking food or delivering stuff made overseas. We need to go back to making things.
