I agree with you there - indeed, I don't have many mountains to climb here in Florida - I would if I had them! If you need both hands most of the time for climbing or stability, rain sleeves are not quite as convenient - you can keep putting your hand in the sleeve as needed, but you'd have to worry about drying it off first every time. In those scenarios, certainly a weatherproofed body and lens would be a more convenient overall package.
I'm certainly not against seeing a weatherproofed NEX - though I'm not too confident one will come along soon mostly because the lenses would need to be sealed too, which would mean limited lens selection or starting a whole new sealed lens collection. Maybe they can seal the body on a future high-end NEX and put some form of basic gasketing on the mount so the lens itself could be covered by a simple rubberized sleeve or something for additional protection.
