P7100 Lens error on vacation.......

Well I took my P7100 to Mexico & left my DSLR (Canon XSI) at home thinking the 7100 would be easier to carry. I upgraded from the P7000 because of the improvements & lens problems on the 7000. I have had the 7100 since Nov 2011 & it has worked fine & I keep it in like new condition. Well on day 2 of our trip I took a couple of pictures & got the dreaded "lens error" message & that was the end of the 7100. I sent it back to Nikon for repair & as I have owned quite a few Nikons starting with my Nikkormat FTN in the 70's, I asked Nikon if they would cover it under warranty as it is a know problem with the P7 series & its only 3 months over warranty. I sent in a nice letter with my original invoice to see if they would make a exception. Apparently Nikon doesn't believe in customer loyalty & keeping their customer happy. After speaking with 3 reps, they won't budge & are billing me $147.64 for the repair plus the shipping to them. After voicing my displeasure I was basically asked if there was anything else they could help me with! Thanks for nothing. On top of that they don't have the parts in stock & the camera will ship back to me when they get them in. Shame on Nikon, they have lost me forever.
I went down to Best Buy & purchased a Sony RX-100 last week as the P7100 will go on Ebay when I get it back. I would never trust it on vacation again. I also decided to upgrade my DSLR & purchased the Canon T4I 18-135 over last weekend.
Nikon, you lost a good customer.
