I don't know that lens but in principle I would prefer to have the stabiliser on a lens in this range. Fortunatley for me I chose the OMD.
B.t.w. my lens just arrived. It's hard to believe how light it is! If IQ is as good as suggested this will be the perfect addition for my travel bag. To cover the same range on my Nikon D700 I have a 70~200mm f2.8 VRII and a 300mm f4 AFS. Ok, they are very nice lenses and have a faster aperture but the difference in size and weight is mind blowing! I did try a 70~300mm VR for a while but that's still big lens really.

I'm sure you'll appreciate it a lot, as everyone told you the IQ is really great for the asking price unless you have a bad copy, the lens really is very light, one of the reason is the fact that the lens mount is entirely plastic (perhaps a composite?) so, as far as I'm concerned, I try (yeah right..) to baby it... but so far it did endure it's fair share of small hits and bumps and no problems at all.
There's even a thread on DPR of someone who made a trek in Nepal with one, and the pictures are great.
