Economical 2nd camera - recs?

Currently have an EPL2 with about 6 lenses and love it. Going to Costa Rica and other members have made the very good recommendation to get a 2nd body to reduce lens changes or in case one goes down. Turns out the wife is a fan of this idea and would love a camera to play with as well. Question is: which do I get?
Budget is a concern, and I'd like to keep it under $300, preferably even less. I like Olympus because of IBIS, but wouldn't be averse to trying Panasonic if other people think it's worth it. The PEN Mini series seems pretty good, but I wonder if I would miss the flash and dial on my EPL2. Of course, I could always get another EPL2 - but I'm the kind of person who likes variety A minor concern would be getting a body that uses the same battery for simplicity.
Anything stand out to the crowd?
