My six-year-old, 12MP Kodak point-and-shoot that captures at ISO64 (under auto-ISO mode) when shooting landscape photos similar to what you shared can hold its own against my Canon 7D and Canon 6D shots at base ISO100.  So I might as well be the spoiler here, that your test confirmed what I knew long ago that small cameras with small sensors at their base ISO can deliver the punch provided the captured scenery is rich with light.  Does that make the Fuji models you specified awfully great cameras?  No, not for the examples presented.  Are they alternatives to DSLR under the same conditions?  Why not!

Will be a very different story if you try comparing the Fuji you marvel at with the 5DMIII at ISO1600 onwards.  Non-scientific does not have to be downright apple to tomato.
