Need advice to improve low-light focusing technique

PS As I'm only reading one post related to the slight underexposure - what metering method did you use? For once-in-a-life time shots of "special subjects" - especially since you've managed to frame it very nicely - try spot metering.

You'll probably get a different meter reading - which might have given you a slightly faster shutter.
