I would ask to see their evidence to support it.  I know there are a lot of well intentioned wildlife enthusiasts and environmentalists that make statements just because the idea of something is plausible to them.  When I have asked what evidence they have to back up their claims they don’t actually have any.  I usually get an answer along the lines of, wouldn’t you rather be safe than sorry…

I am not saying that it isn’t harmful, I honestly don’t know either way but it would be really nice to see some evidence either way.
