I mean, consider the 24 MP D600 vs the 36 MP D800. Does the D800 give up DR to the D600?
So, if anything is "unfortunate" it's people thinking more pixels result in lower IQ, when, in fact, the exact opposite is true.
The point is not everyone needs a mega-pixel camera if he/she doesn't need print/view huge size on the price of cost, choking of processing and storage and lower burst rate...
On at least 30x20" prints or at least 3000-pixel wide displayed on 1080p monitor you not really can tell difference of photos between D600/5D3 and D800.
And 30x20" is plenty big enough...
Not big enough. I have a few 30x20" prints from 5D and 5D2 and I don't see big difference. I have read several owners' claims who actually own and use both 5D3/5D2 and D800. They all said they don't see much difference between two when print to 30x20".
