Olympus Tough TG-1. Suitable for surf photos?

Has anyone used these cameras in the surf? Can they withstand being pounded by waves? Apparently as part of their warrenty they have to have their waterproofing seals checked by an authorized repairer every 12 months. Does this cost much? Cheers
