BTW, I am not sure if I understand exactly how their Baysian algorithm for vote counting and averaging works, but based on what I have read, looks like selective voting (ie entering votes for some but not all entries in a challenge) could put some entries at an unfair disadvantage and the advice seems to be to either not vote for any, or vote for all entries. Please correct me if I am wrong.
If so, and for those challenges where both myself and my wife may decide to submit, I would obviously not want to put her at an unfair disadvantage by not entering any votes for her picture even when I may honestly find her entry better than some others. Again, we view this as a sort of a competition among ourselves too, and as such we will always do our best to avoid any biases and use sound judgment in our voting, and will vote based on how any given picture stands compared to other in the challenge in our respective opinions.
Sorry, KambizSh, I can’t help you in relation to the vote counting algorithm – this sort of sorcery is not my field. My brain froze over shortly after I got past the part of the narrative that deals with smoothing out the impact of large variations in the voting pattern.
I hope someone who is knowledgeable about the subject picks up on the thread.
