Can't understand that OP doesn't mention the loss of swivel screen as a negative, especially when frequently doing tripod work. I don't doubt for a moment that it would be more convenient than working with 6D + iPhone ...

Well, I can tell you for sure a swivel screen isn't more convenient than working with an iPad + 6D; the iPad's display is larger, it's not physically tethered to the camera so you can stand upright, you get touch control of the shutter and some other features, the camera's physical integrity isn't compromised by a hinge or potential impacts on a flipped-out screen...

Personally, I'm grateful they left off a swivel screen. One less feature to pay for that I have no need of. And yes, I shoot landscapes; generally auroras, astro and the like.

I agree, I bought a small arm (11") that I attach to my tripod to hold the iPhone. I eventually will upgrade that to an iPad mini... I can't think of something more convenient to shoot in awkward positions, you could even use a monopod as  a pole or extension to avoid obstacles. The swivel screen would be useless in those cases. I believe that eventually Canon will upgrade the EOS remote app to do all you can do with the ESO Utility which basically fully controls the camera.
