I'm looking for a small and light lens to give me reach. It needs to be small and light enough to go in my bag for my holiday. The Olympus 40~150 seems to fit the bill. Small, cheap, pretty good IQ.

"pretty good IQ" isa bit of a gross understatement. It is an excellent lens. And at the sort of prices offered now, an absolute steal. My standard walk around kit is the E-PL3, 14 Panny, Oly 40-150. The 40-150 will fit a pants or jacket pocket (okay, I'm an old bloke and not into skin tight jeans) and weighs next to nothing. It extends along way when  fully zoomed but that doesn’t upset balance.

In good but very contrasty light.

100% crop from above. Snatched the shot from a rapidly moving subject -- might have just missed optimal focus on the face.

Someone suggested maybe not so good in poor light. You will be amazed at how steady you can hold this lens.

Reach, you said? Lovely reach.

Cheers, geoff
