What is this fascination that so many people have here to tell others how they should be taking their photos? I do this so you should... I don't find this useful so you mustn't.

The pic below was taken on a recent trip to India. It was night and the crowd in the boats were lit only by the lights from the shore. Exposure was 1/30 sec, f/2.8, ISO 6400. Slower shutter speeds would have led to motion blur; wider aperture would have reduced depth of field (remember that? It's what makes f/1.4 useless for many types of photo). I tried various combinations of ISO / f-stop / shutter speed and this was what worked best. Sorry if it offends you.
