Manual focusing for telephoto

Just how practical is using a longer tele lens, with manual focusing, on an E-PL2, and in the field? Does one have an realistic chance of capturing a nice sharp image?

I find that manual focusing is very difficult without a stabilized view at FL longer than 100mm. Sometimes the jitter looks like the lens is OOF. Even with a tripod just touching the lens causes too much jitter. I believe (although not 100% sure) that E-PL2 does not allow to use its IBIS during composing. From that perspective Panasonic ยต4/3 lenses with built-in O.I.S. make manual focusing much easier.

Overall I would not recommend any manual focus lens longer than 100mm that does not offer stabilized view for composing.
