..........The dealer is selling the R-8 for about $600 without lenses while he well buy the R-6.2 from me for about $100 so is the $500 more for the R-8 worth the bother?
I understand also that the R-8 has a transparent mirror, like the Sony DSLR. Does this mean that their is no mirror slap as the mirror does not have to get out of the way when taking a pic?
Also, it is my understanding there is a digital back for the R-8. Seems this might be a cheaper way to get into a full frame digital camera.
Have you ever seen an R6.2 going for less than $500? But I have seen a number of R8s gone for less than $500. The R6.2 is probably the most sought after R by those preferring mechanical R-Leica.
The R8 has no transparent mirror.
Stay away from DMR (digital back) if you do care about service availabiity. (Also it's not cheap at all, a used D800 may be cheaper...)
Better stick to your R6.2 and your Nex-7 is a fine choice to use all your retrofocus R-lenses. If you want to use your R-lenses on FF-digital then get yourself a used 5DII and a focus-confirmation adapter.
