Digressing about the trouble of learning languages.
I barely spoke English when I got a backfocusing Planar 85 f/1.2 for Contax RTS. I went to the shop, tried to explain the problem with a slide I took of my wife, and instead of saying "I was focusing on her left eye" I said "I was f..king her right eye". In New England they are very polite, no one laughed.
Anyway, even 34 years later, when I read the word "focusing" I have to remember my misadventures learning English.

Reminds me of the time when I went to 'chip van' to order one of my favourite foods from Quebec. It's called poutine, and it's basically french fries with cheese curds and gravy. I walked up to the cook, confident in my newly-learned French, and said "I would like a putain". The problem is that putain<>poutine ... putain = "prostitute". The man laughed and said "we're all out, but if you want poutine, we can help you".
