Problems with OM-D E-M5 RAW Codec for Windows 7 and Snapseed

I was a little surprised to find that the Olympus codecs and Microsoft Camera Codec Pack both fail to provide Snapseed with RAW file editing capabilities.
I found the fix here, but I'm surprised that www.fastpictureviewer.com is the only option.
Anybody have bets on Olympus issuing another version of their RAW codec for Windows that won't require me to buy my way out of this problem?
