Clearly, some cameras have definite operational advantages over others which makes capturing the photo in the first place the differentiator between cameras (e.g. fast and accurate AF). However, what I'm talking about here is a photo that was successfully captured, and would have been successfully captured with lesser equipment, but the difference in IQ was substantial enough to either make the photo unsellable, or, at least, sell for less.

I can honestly say I've had more issues selling prints because of matching the decor of the room they are looking for a framed print for than by any camera body's lack of apparent IQ.

WE look at prints differently than the average consumer.  they want to match and have a print that accents their living space ... when we see a print we get right up to it, and check out the detail.

as we print, the observer distance also increases for normal poeple looking at the perspective of a print. we of course don't do that - and some people will check out the fine detail, but not in the order or (well, the photog could have used a D800E  and set the aperture at f5.6 and this would have been better - I wont' buy it because it's obviously inferior).

how do paintings sell?

some aspects suchs as stock photography obviously is different . however, if you are selling prints .. so many other variables are at play that the actual camera / sensor being used is such a trival importance.

My best selling print .. from a 20D.  one of my other best selling prints? a digital rebel 6.3Mp that I was out just testing to see if it was working correctly with the 18-55 original lens.
